Every now and then a book arrives with a pitch so tidy you can already hear yourself recommending it across the counter. Do Not Disturb lands in that lane for me. It has the sort of title, category, and energy that suggests a reader will know quickly whether they are in good hands.
What I want from a thriller hand-sell is not endless throat-clearing. I want a book that sounds like it understands pacing, mood, and the simple pleasure of making someone say, “Fine, give me that one.” Freida McFadden tends to work in exactly that commercial, readable territory, which makes this an easy one to keep near the front of the shelf.
If the execution matches the setup, this feels like the kind of pick I would mention to the mystery reader who says they want something propulsive without needing a ten-minute speech first.
